New Tracking

Please read these tips:

1. For events, you MUST Set Your Location, including the city. Once you've done that you DO NOT need to enter a location as part of your search term.
2. One-word search terms generally return irrelevant results1. The sweet spot is 2 to 4 words.
3. While you can enclose your terms in quotes you don't need to, FaveBot assumes quotes are there for blog, news and podcast searches2.
4. Because of the assumed quotes, it's best to track terms that you would see in a sentence. For example, track "Apple iPod" instead of "iPod Apple" (without the quotes).

1. Unique or unusual words are the exception to the "one word" rule. Also, FaveBot's music searching will work reasonably well for musicians with one-word names. For example, "Prince" (without the quotes) will find new releases by Prince but a news search on "Prince" will bring back results about all kinds of Princes other than the musician.

2. Video and photo searches run against a collection of one-word tags (keywords). Also, because FaveBot assumes quotes for blogs, news and podcasts, searches that try to exclude words by using minus signs don't work right now. I'm working on a fix for that.

* Be warned that Blog and YouTube Video results can be spammy depending on what you're tracking (popular celebrities for one). For best results be as specific as possible (e.g. 'Oakland Raiders' instead of just 'Raiders') and/or deselect Blogs & Videos

** You MUST enter a valid location, including city for events to show up.
