Let 's go to icsforums.com http You remember that Galaxy S II? A phone so good they launched it, well, a whole load of times. But after seeing phablet cousins and LTE variants, the true handset sequel is finally here. The Galaxy S III is moments away from being outed in front of journalists and Sammy's business partners in London, but in advance of the big reveal we were given a few hours to acquaint ourselves with the new star away from the crush of the show floor. And what did we make of it? In short, Samsung's tried to bring its Galaxy S series in line with (and in some ways, further ahead of) what its team-up with Google accomplished. It's added some new quad-core Exynos processing juice, a 4.8-inch, HD Super AMOLED screen and a handful of Galaxy S III-only features in an earnest bid to maintain its place at the top of the Android pile. Samsung's pitch to us focused heavily on the software. Pure Android enthusiasts may wince at the sight of TouchWiz (overlaid on top of Android 4.0.4) and from the brief time we played with the device, Ice Cream Sandwich looks a lot like how it arrived on our updated Galaxy S II -- it's not close to a stock Android experience. Instead of messing with its UI, Samsung has concentrated on specific apps -- and plenty of new gesture functionality.From: thien204Views: 1

The Wall Street Journal reports Google is changing up partnerships with equipment manufacturers which make its Nexus phones. Sources say Google will release the latest version of Android to as many as five manufacturers, and sell the resulting flagship phones and tablets directly to consumers through its own store rather than moving phones through carriers. Under the current business model, there's usually just one vanilla flagship running the latest OS at a time. Computerworld explains. "The choice and diversity within the platform are fine; that's an inherent part of the open model. But for users who want the Android that Google designed, who want the guarantee of timely and reliable OS upgrades, and who want a bloatware-free experience, there's typically only one option..." So, if you follow that line of reasoning, Google increasing control over its Android ecosystem is good news. PocketNow does, and says fragmentation helps no one, least of all consumers. "That would mark a huge shift in how accessible new Android releases are, and hopefully help avoid some of the issues that have led to so few Android users having access to Ice Cream Sandwich, even this long after the platform debuted." GigaOM says the trick is to cut carriers out of the equation.
